CUIP PhD students win two European scholarships

2024 was the year with most scholarships awarded to CUIP doctoral students!

In addition to the three scholarships that had already been awarded in the FCT’s annual competition for funding doctoral scholarships in all scientific fields, two more scholarships have been awarded this year to doctoral students in Psychology.

Of the eight doctoral research scholarships awarded at the University of Algarve (UAlg), within the scope of the European University of the Seas (SEA-EU), two were for doctoral students in Psychology, supervised by integrated members of CUIP:

. Alexandre Condeças, with the project titled “Does It All Come Down to Beliefs? The Role of Zero-Sum and Win-Win Lay Theories of Diversity in the Support of Immigrant DEI Policies in Portugal and Spain”, guided by Joana Santos and Alexandra Gomes;

. Rui Zacarias, with the project entitled “The Impact of Neurofeedback on the Psychological and Physical Performance of High-Performance Athletes”, guided by Saúl de Jesus and João Correia.

These scholarships are funded by the European Commission, through the Erasmus + Program (Partnerships for Excellence GA 101089757 – SEA-EU 2.0 Action; Project “SEA-EU for all”), being an important contribution to the internationalization of CUIP and the PhD in Psychology from UAlg.

The SEA-EU project began in 2019, integrating 9 universities located in 28 cities in coastal regions of Europe. This European Alliance is made up of the universities of Cadiz, Western Brittany, Kiel, Gdansk, Split, Malta, Algarve, Naples and NORD, each from a different European country, but all committed to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
