2024 is one of the years with the most CUIP PhD scholarships

In the FCT’s annual competition (2024) for funding doctoral scholarships in all scientific domains, three candidates supervised by CUIP researchers obtain funding to pursue a doctorate in Psychology at UAlg:

  • Beatriz Baleizão Marcelo, with the project entitled “Putting the “motion” in emotion: Socio-Emocional Competencies and Career Adaptative Behaviors in the school to work/university transition”, supervised by Vítor Gamboa;
  • José Elias Ratinho, with the project entitled “Gamified Learning in Mathematics: the effects of the MILAGE app on motivation, engagement and academic performance in high school and higher education students”, supervised by Cátia Martins;
  • Rita dos Santos, with the project entitled “Enhancing Family Support through professional skills: Efficacy assessment at an online training”, supervised by Cristina Nunes.

This was one of the years in which a greater number of PhD students in Psychology from UAlg obtain a doctoral scholarship from FCT.

These students come to join others who, in previous FCT competitions, received a scholarship to pursue a PhD in Psychology at UAlg.

The quality of doctoral students in Psychology at UAlg has increased, and it is also an indicator of this that Fábio Gonçalves, with the project entitled “I wonder why we wander: The predictors of mind-wandering while reading in children” (supervised by Luís Faísca and Filomena Inácio), was the first ranked in the Psychology panel of the FCT doctoral scholarship competition in 2023.
