CUIP PhD student wins award in UAlg’s “Three Minutes of Thesis” (3MT) competition

On April 5th, the public presentation of the applications selected for the 2nd phase of the 2nd edition of the “Three Minutes of Thesis (3MT-UAlg)” competition took place, with Fábio Gonçalves obtaining 2nd place, with the title “I wonder why we wander: How mind-wandering affects reading in children”. This student is supervised by Luís Faísca and Filomena Inácio, integrated members of CUIP

It is worth remembering that doctoral students from all UAlg courses can participate in this competition, and that in the 1st edition of the 3MT-UAlg competition, held last year, the winner was Ana Simão, also a student in the CUIP doctoral network.

This achievement expresses the quality of the students on the PhD course in Psychology, especially in terms of scientific communication to a non-specialist audience.

Another indicator of the quality of UAlg’s doctoral students has been the scholarships obtained in recent years. In particular, in 2024, 5 doctoral scholarships were obtained by students of this doctorate, 3 by FCT and 2 by SEA-EU, in 8 entries per year.

It is also worth noting that Fábio Gonçalves obtained the highest score, in the Psychology panel, of the FCT Portuguese doctoral scholarship competition in 2023.
