Project developed by CUIP researchers receives national award
The Pre-Reading Skills Promotion Program, implemented by CUIP researchers in the Municipality of Portimão since the 2023/2024 school year, has received the “Municipal Excellence in Education” Award, within the scope of the Social City initiative.
Developed with the technical and scientific coordination of researchers from CUIP and the Faculty of Human and Social Sciences of the University of Algarve – Filomena Inácio, Vítor Gamboa, Luís Faísca, Alexandra Reis and Filipa Bértolo – the PPCPL is based on scientific evidence produced in the area of reading.
This project had already been awarded previously, this time in the category of continued good practices of municipalities.
This project is a concrete example of how research in Basic Psychology, when combined with Applied Psychology, can generate real impacts in the community, promoting the effective transfer of scientific knowledge to the educational field.
The relevance and recognition of the action-research project reinforce one of CUIP’s strategic priorities: integrating fundamental research with applied research, contributing to the sustainable development of public policies.
